Cylinder head engine pada engine diesel marine berfungsi sebagai tempat
terjadinya pembakaran bahan bakar dan udara yang menghasilkan tenaga untuk
menggerakkan kapal. Oleh karena itu, cylinder head engine memiliki peran yang
sangat penting dalam operasional alat berat.
Tujuan penilitian ini adalah Menganilisis gejala – gejala yang menyebabkan
kerusakan yang terjadi pada cylinder head dan mengetahui cara visual inspection
kerusakan pada komponen – komponen di cylinder head
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi lapangan dengan melakukan
pengamatan secara langsung dan serta melakukan metode tanya jawab sehingga
ditemukan suatu permasalahan yang terjadi pada Marine Engine 3306 Caterpillar.
Setelah proses penganalisaan ditemukan penyebabnya terjadinya kerusakan
pada valve inlet yang bengkok dan valve guide yang terdapat patahan jenis brittle
fracture yang di karenakan timing valve yang tidak sesuai pada literature SIS.
Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan beberapa jenis kerusakan pada
komponen engine seperti valve inlet dan exhaust no 1 dan 6, valve guide inlet no 1
dan 6, dan gasket cylinder head

The engine cylinder head in a marine diesel engine functions as a place for
the combustion of fuel and air to produce power to propel the ship. Therefore, the
engine cylinder head has a very important role in heavy equipment operations.
purpose of this research is to analyze the symptoms that cause damage to the
cylinder head and find out how to visually inspect the damage to the componentsin
the cylinder head.
study used the field observation method by making direct observations and
also using the question and answer method so that a problem was found that
occurred in the Marine Engine 3306 Caterpillar.
After the analysis process, it was found that the cause of the damage was the
bent inlet valve and valve guide which had a brittle fracture type fracture which was
caused by an inappropriate valve timing in the SIS literature.
The results of this study found several types of damage to engine
components such as inlet and exhaust valves no. 1 and 6, inlet guide valves no. 1
and 6, and cylinder head gaskets.
