    Abstract
    This research aims to determine the role of HR management audit to
    assess the effectiveness of the HR function at the Regional Office of DJKN KaltimTara. This research is a qualitative descriptive. The data collection methods used
    were interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis technique uses
    qualitative analysis methods by describing the effectiveness assessment of the HR
    function based on the results of a comparison between conditions, criteria,
    causes, and effects. The research instrument used is the HR management audit
    program which includes HR acquisition programs, HR management programs,
    and HR reduction programs.Based on the results of the research that has been
    carried out, it is known that the effectiveness of the HR function programs that
    has been running effectively include HR planning, recruitment, planning and
    career development, performance appraisal, compensation and fringe benefits,
    and termination of employment. While the HR function programs that has not
    been running effectively include selection, training and development, health and
    safety, and employee job satisfaction. Based on the findings of weaknesses found
    in the HR function program, then given advice that can be used as input for
    management to improve and increase the effectiveness of the HR function, namely
    the Regional Office of DJKN Kaltim-Tara need to review the selection policy
    related to the procurement of interview tests, implement obligations for every
    employee to participating in training and development programs on a regular
    basis, conduct first aid training and use of equipment and work protection,
    conduct employee job satisfaction assessments, and conduct periodic human
    resource audits.
