Analysis of the Impact of Loading on the Performance of 500 kVA Generator Set in PT.
Tehnik Nusantara Balikpapan
Abstract, Generator set is a synchronous machine that converts mechanical energy into
electrical energy. Generator sets used to supply a separate power system or a smaller
power system or to supply additional power to a larger peak load. Almost all electrical
energy in Indonesia is generated by a generator set or synchronous machine, so its
existence is very necessary for the continuity of service continuity. One of the factors that
greatly affect the characteristics of the generator set is the load it carries. In this study, a
calculation and analysis of the effect of loading on the performance of the generator set
at PT. Tehnik Nusantara Balikpapan. Based on the results of the data in the field, the
generator efficiency at peak load is 96.92% when operating in 2021, and the generator
efficiency in 2020 is 96.58%, and the generator efficiency in 2019 is 97%, that can be
seen there is a decrease in efficiency in 2020 when the generator set operates, this
decrease can occur with several factors, one of which is the reduced load power carried
by the generator set and the age factor of the generator set components.
