POWER LOSSES ANALYSIS OF CHANGES IN NEUTRAL CURRENT ON NEUTRAL
TRANSFER DUE TO UNBALANCED LOAD ON DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS AT
    TELUK PANDAN SUBSTATION
Abstrack, load imbalances in the distribution network are often encountered, this is due
to asynchronous ignition times, unbalanced connection of each phase, and neutral current.
The magnitude of this neutral current depends on how big the load imbalance of the three
phases is. The current flowing in this neutral conductor causes a power loss. At the Teluk
Pandan Substation the imbalance occurs due to disturbances originating from fault
currents of 1 phase to ground or 3 phase to ground. The calculation of the magnitude of
the load imbalance that occurs due to disturbances in the Teluk Pandan Substation
channel obtained the highest value on February 22, 2020 at 125.75% and the lowest value
on September 11, 2020 at 1.86%. Calculation of the value of power losses due to neutral
currents originating from load imbalances obtained the highest value for disturbance on
22 February 2020 of 6105.44 watts and the lowest value on 11 September 2020 of 6.40
watts. Power loss can be overcome by splitting the load or adding a new distribution
transformer and monitoring the load on the distribution transformer to transfer the load
from the R-S, S-T, and T-R phases. From the results of the research conducted, the results
obtained exceed the current unbalance standard according to NEMA MG-1 with the
results obtained exceeding 30% of the current unbalance.
