Chiller Power Consumption Efficiency Analysis For Cooling System Mall Plaza Mulia

Abstract, Today the need for electrical energy for household, building and industrial
purposes is increasing and cannot be underestimated anymore. This need will continue to
increase along with population growth and economic growth. With the large use of
electrical energy, of course, it is necessary to make efficiency in its use. Mall is one of the
large users of electrical energy, especially the use of electrical energy on the side of the
cooling system. Therefore, it is necessary to save energy in a mall. Mall Plaza Mulia –
Samarinda is one of the malls that was opened and the condition of the mall is still
relatively quiet because this mall is integrated with a hotel, therefore Plaza Mulia Mall
requires energy savings due to less efficient energy consumption. Energy saving efforts at
this mall are carried out on the HVAC system, especially on the water chiller side by
optimizing the management of electrical energy consumption and calculating the
Coefficient Of Performance (COP) value of the water chiller, with an increase in COP
will improve the performance of the chiller machine. The water chiller's electrical energy
efficiency after optimization is 20.17% from 25%.
