    ABSTRACT
    The implementation of concrete work in hot weather makes the hydration process faster so that it can reduce the quality of the concrete. To overcome these obstacles, it is necessary to add materials in the form of retarders that function to slow down the hardening of the concrete. Additives that can be used include silica fume and sucrose. This study used an experimental method, measuring the cement setting time with a vicat device in a concrete mixture added with silica fume 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% and sucrose 0.010%, 0.015%, 0.020%, 0.025%, and 0.030% by weight of cement. And then tested the concrete compressive strength of 33 cubes measuring 15x15x15 cm at the age of 28 days with a concrete quality plan of 25 MPa to get which added material is more effective in slowing down the cement setting time.
