ABSTRACT
An old bridge in Ritan Village will be rebuilt using 12 m steel pile as the foundation
of lower structure. To plan the structure of the bridge itself, soil parameters will be
needed which can be obtained by many methods, such as Standard Penetration Test
(SPT), Cone Penetration Test (CPT) and laboratory test. The purpose of this
research is to redesign the abutment foundation of the bridge using 40 cm bored
pile with 8 m depth and the total is 10 piles, by comparing the bearing capacity and
the settlement between manual calculations with the result of Geo5 program. The
result shows that the bearing capacity using classical calculation gives the number
of Safety Factor (SF) 4,39 while Geo5 is 4,05. The value of settlement is 13,6 cm
which exceed the maximum limit. In order to avoid the value of settlement exceed
the maximum limit, the depth of the bored piles are changed from 2 m to 10 m.
Where Geo5 gives a bigger settlement result with 9,81 cm than classical calculation
with 8,93 cm. However, both methods do not give the result of the significant
differences.
