ABSTRACT
The research about The Analysis of Local Scouring Using Empirical Method
around Kuala Samboja Bridge Piers on Kutai Kartanegara District is done to
determine the depth of local scouring around Kuala Samboja Bridge pier -that has
been built since 1992- using different calculation methods. The depth of the scour
is analyzed through 2 stages, direct measurement and analysis using empirical
method. Sonar is used at direct measurement stages. Depth of the scour is
determined using HEC-18 method, Froehlich method, Laursen & Toch method and
Salim & Jone method. The determined pier shape is multiple cylinder pier with the
distance of each pier is 1,2 meters and with diameter 0,5 meters on each pier.
Dominant discharge (QDominant) is used on this research, at 377.944 m3
/s. Based on
direct measurement and analysis using empirical method, the depth of the scour is
0,741 meters using Froehlich method, 0,747 meters using HEC-18 method, 0,922
meters using Laursen & Toch method and 0,550 meters for envelop curve, 0,453
meters for best fit curve using Salim & Jone method.
