ABSTRACT
Technological developments cannot be separated in human life, especially in
agriculture, especially corn farming. Work in corn agricultural production,
especially corn shelling, requires tools to facilitate the shelling process. For this
reason, corn shellers and grinders were made to increase the productivity of corn
shelling for farmers. In this thesis discusses the procedures for planning and
analyzing tools and procedures for data collection. From the results of the
performance of the components of the tool that have been analyzed, there are
things that have differences and similarities with existing machines. The results of
the drawings that have been designed will be engineered in the form of a
conventional machine which is usually operated by farmers because this machine
already utilizes a work system sourced from gasoline motor power which converts
into engine elements that produce output in the form of broken corn kernels. After
designing the sheller and grinder using a V type A belt, using 2 types of pulleys
with a diameter of 3 and 8 inches made of cast iron, the shaft used is made of
S30C, the bearing used is a ball pillow type 6204. The results of research on the
Sheller Machine and Corn Grinder with a capacity of 60 kg per hour which has
been obtained that with the basic ingredients of 2400 pieces of corn can be 60 kg
with a predetermined speed. This design will be able to increase the productivity
of farmers and companies related to agriculture.
