    ABSTRACT
    Dyes are the most obvious indicators of water pollution. The disposal of toxic waste can become toxic to human and aquatic life. One of the colors often used in the batik pigmentation process is Remazol Brilliant Blue R. This research was carried out on the decolorization of Remazol Brilliant Blue R using chitosan powder adsorbent. The research was conducted to get the best condition time and the influence of adsorption on the decline in the concentration of the color Remazol Brilliant Blue R with chitosan. The variables used in this study were: time (60-480 minutes), chitosan mass (1.5 grams), and concentrations of Remazol Brilliant Blue R (30, 50, 100, 200, 300 ppm). The dye sample was stirred using a shaker at a speed of 200 rpm. The sample was filtered with a tea-strainer and then analyzed for the decrease in the concentration of Remazol Brilliant Blue R using UV-Vis at a wavelength of 595 nm. The results showed that the best time in process of Remazol Brilliant Blue R color additives in 360 minutes with a drop above of 96.58% and with an adsorption varying degrees of Remazol Brilliant Blue R is the concentration of 100 ppm with a decrease of 96.27%. The decrease in concentration in the application of small to medium scale batik industry dye liquid waste reached 37.27% with a decrease in dye from 32 ppm (85.3731 PtCo) to 19.9300 ppm (55.4343PtCo).
